The Museum of South Texas – this place really has everything from Mammoth bones to conjunto tunes. The museum collects, exhibits and preserves everything that is relevant to the heritage of the lower Rio Grande region as well as South Texas and Northeastern Mexico. You can go here on any da of the week that it is open, usually Monday to Friday between operating hours. Edinburg Scenic Wetlands – in 2003, the birding center that opened here was the first of the nine World Birding Centres to open. Set on a sprawling 40 acres of lush land, it is very close to the heart of Edinburg. It is a complete showcase for all the flora and fauna and the bio-diversity of the area. They are open from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm.
The Freddy Gonzalez Memorial Park – this one is great for kids too. You can have a full day of fun and frolic enjoying the many entertainment and water features of the park. Their operating hours tend to change from time to time, so it is always best to ask and double check depending upon the time of your visit here.
